Westinghouse produced a cylinder variant for its AB brake systems that incorporated a “pressure head having a slack adjuster lug” at the rear of the cylinder. While certainly not as common as the typical cylinder, this variant was used extensively on most AC&F-built tank cars of the 1930s and into the 1940s, Missouri Pacific freight cars of the 1930s into the 1940s, Milwaukee freight cars including the rib-side cars, and some GM&N/GM&O equipment of the 1930s.
