Description

p118-milw

Westinghouse produced a cylinder variant for its AB brake systems that incorporated a “pressure head having a slack adjuster lug” at the rear of the cylinder. While certainly not as common as the typical cylinder, this variant was used extensively on many PRR freight cars (X28 and X29, among others,) most AC&F-built tank cars of the 1930s and into the 1940s, Missouri Pacific freight cars of the 1930s into the 1940s, Milwaukee freight cars including the rib-side cars, and some GM&N/GM&O equipment of the 1930s. If you are aware of other examples, please share them with us using the Contact Form link at the top of the this page.

This casting is a direct replacement for part no. 8 on the Tichy AB brake sprue and the rear detail on the casting includes a clevis-style “slot” for the brake lever and a pipe “nipple” for the pipe between the cylinder and the AB valve. $7.00 for three pieces
